Marlin Briscoe made history in 1968, when he became the very first black quarterback to ever play in the American Football League (AFL). He was a 14th round pick the year before (remember when they had all those rounds in the draft?!!?), and, even though he did not start the Bronco’s opener, he came in in the second quarter . . . . . and made history!!

Marlin was just another example of the forward thinking of the AFL.
