I’m looking forward to embarking on a replay of the 1963 AFL/NFL season. Growing up in Gary, Indiana, my entire family was die-hard Bears fans. On so many occasions of my boyhood, I would be sitting in a boat on Lake Michigan fishing with my grandpa and dad listening to stories about how great Bill George and the rest of the Chicago Bears defense was. Now, I will get to see their 46/46 rated defense come to life on my tabletop.
Although I was just a toddler in 1963, my mother always told me this is where I developed my love of football. I was on the sidelines every Saturday in my stroller watching Jack Barath play offensive guard for Ball State University.
I want to thank each one of you who will be visiting this thread because your support and input make the journey a lot of fun.
Please overlook the following discrepancies:
- Field goal post were not slingshot until 1967.
- Field goal post were on the goal line until 1974.
- Sacks were not a statistic until 1982.
- QB rating was created in 1972.
Looking forward to some NFL running games and AFL vertical passing games!
I absolutely love this 63 set. You are going to have a ton of fun. Can’t wait to read the write ups and see the stats.
Awesome
I am excited for this replay. I just finished listening to, “Clouds Over the Goalposts,” by Lew Freedman.
