Week 4 Highlights

There were quite a few close games including two overtime games in week 4.

Cincinnati (4-0) stayed unbeaten by edging the winless Bills (0-4) 17-10.

The Jets (2-2) offense finally came to life gaining 422 total yards in dropping the Houston Oilers (0-4) by a score of 33-20. Richard Todd was efficient as completed 12 of 22 passes for 182 yards and 2 TDs for a rating of 112.3

Washington (4-0) stayed unbeaten when Philadelphia (2-2) botched the potential game tying extra point late in the 4th quarter. Wilbur Jackson rushed for exactly 100 yards in the 20-19 victory for the Redskins.

Minnesota (2-2) edged Green Bay (2-2) 27-24 in overtime. The Vikings put together a 10 play 82 yard last ditch drive to tie the game at 24-24 with only 26 seconds remaining in the game. Ted Brown scored the equalizer on a 2 yard run. After trading punts in overtime the Vikings Rick Danmeier kicked the game winning 26 yard field goal.

The Seahawks (3-1) knocked the Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) out of the unbeaten ranks with a 23-21 win. The Chiefs turned the ball over five times to Seattle’s zero turnovers.

Game of the week

Miami (4-0) stayed unbeaten as the defeated the Baltimore Colts (1-3) 25 to 19 in overtime. Miami trailed 19-9 entering the 4th quarter. Andra Franklin scored on a 1 yard run early in the 4th quarter to close the gap to 19-16. Miami looked doomed when faced 4th and 14 from their own 22 yard line with 1:09 left in the game. David Woodley scrambled for 15 yards to keep the drive alive. Miami then drove into position for the game tying 30 yard field goal by Uwe von Schamann. The Colts won the toss and got the ball first in overtime. Bert Jones’ first pass was intercepted by the Dolphins. A few plays later Woodley hit Jimmy Cefalo on a crossing pattern that Cefalo took all the way for a 52 yard game winning touchdown.
