My choice as the greatest game in NFL history was this contest in ’81 postseason, of course in the Orange Bowl, not in SD. Imagine- road team goes up 23-0 early, aided by a punt return for a TD. Holds on to win. Crazy how art can imitate life. In reverse! You had everything but the hook and lateral! Don Criqui must have done the play-by-play. Great game, you must have been on the edge of your seat at the end.
I agree with your assessment of that game. It’s one of the best ever. The Bengals recent playoff run brought that game to mind since the Chargers then faced the Bengals in the “Freezer Bowl” here in Cincinnati. I thought the same thing while playing this game, that is it was kind of a mirror image of the actual game. Home team was reversed and MIami jumped to the big lead instead of San Diego. My playoffs to this point have been exciting that’s for sure.
