49ers’ Defense shuts down the Panthers on Monday Night!

The 49ers’ offense is trying to adjust to the loss of the great All-Pro WR Jerry Rice, but their defense is playing championship defense. They dominated the Carolina Panthers offense, who has been struggling to find their 1996 form. The 49ers held the Panthers to 23 total rushing yards and 151 total. They also sacked Panther QB’s four times. Former Panther LB Kevin Greene had a sack.

QB Steve Young is starting to trust second-year wide-out Terrell Owens and they hooked up for six catches, 102 yards and 2 TDs. The 49ers have now won 3 in a row and atop the West standing at 3-2. Carolina is struggling with injuries and are now 1-4.
