Boyd’s 1997 NFL Replay Game 90 (Week 7) Carolina at Minnesota

Robert Smith propels the Vikes to 3rd straight win

Vikings Robert Smith has elevated his game, and he is one of the best running backs in the NFL. On Sunday against the Panthers in the Metrodome, Smith sliced up the Carolina defense for the Vikings 3rd straight win.

Smith carried the ball 31 times for 107 yards, but it was his pass receiving skills that punished the Panthers. Smith caught two 30+ TD receptions in the 3rd quarter that gave the Vikings’ offense the spark they needed. He finished with 4 catches, 66 yards and the two TDs.

DT John Randle busted through with a great day harassing Panther QB Steve Beurlein. He sacked Beurlein 3 times.

The Panthers were without their starting QB and starting RB and only managed 262 total yards. They have lost 3 straight now and will travel to the Superdome next week to take on the Saints.

The Vikings will go into their bye week winning three straight. They started the season 0-4 and now are getting themselves back in the Wildcard race in the NFC. After their bye, they will travel to the now stumbling Buccaneers.
