Jets continue to surprise with an OT win in Cincinnati
Bill Parcels’ total reinvention of the NY Jets continued Sunday versus the Bengals at Pro Cynergy Field. The Jets squeaked out an overtime victory over the Bengals, 23-20, and are now 4-1 on the season. Neil O’Donnell got hot in the second half as he completed 19 of 20 passes, including 13 straight.
In OT, O’Donnel connected with Wayne Chrebet on a 26-yard pass that set the Jets up deep in Bengal territory. After a few runs from Adrian Murrell, John Hall kicked a 20-yard FG to win the game, 23-20.
The Bengals are now 1-3 on the season. Jeff Blake completed 17 of 34 passes for 204 yards and a TD. He also rushed for 42 yards. The Jets’ Defense held All-Pro WR Carl Pickens to just one catch on the day for 14 yards.
The Jets will take their 4-1 record into Indianapolis to take on the struggling Colts, while the Bengals will travel to Jacksonville to take on the 1-3 Jaguars.
Great win by Gang Green! I remember watching this game like it was yesterday.
