Blitz Alternative, Part I

This video demonstrates an alternative method for blitzing when the play result is between 14 through 19 and 26 & 27 on the quarterback’s card. The beauty of this innovation is it eliminates excessive interceptions caused by the “two-line drop” rule when playing solitaire.

During the video, I noticed that I stated the example situation was 3rd and 6, however, I meant to say 3rd and 8. At the end of the video, I mention Oakland’s sack rating was 3.0, I’m referring to their “sacks per game” average.

Sack & Interception Innovation, Part II

This video clip demonstrates the negative impact the “Sack & Interception” innovation can have on a team. The 1967 Minnesota Vikings have a sack/interception rating of 13/-14. Through nine games, their interception average per game is 1.6 compared to their actual average 1.1. Their sack average per game is 2.9 compared to their actual average of 2.6.

In this example, Minnesota has a -14 interception rating.  If they intercept a pass, before awarding them with the interception, roll the dice.  If the dice roll is 11, 12, 13 or 14 the interception is negated.  If the roll is 15 thru 66 the interception stands. I didn’t clearly explain this is the below video.

“Sack & Interception” Demo

This video addresses a variety of defensive innovations highlighted by the “Sack & Interception” innovation.  I have used it for years and have been extremely pleased with the results.  During the video, I mention that the Bills actually averaged 3.1 sacks per game during the 1967 season, however, I failed to mention that they are averaging 3.1 sacks per game in my replay also.

Long Pass Demo

My original attempt was to demonstrate a “Long Pass” play, however, a “Pass Interference” penalty occurred on the play.  This video now provides an alternative for identifying which team was penalized and how to execute a “Pass Interference” penalty.

At the end of the video, I talk about declining the penalty and accepting the TD…this is for when the board result is a “TDTH”.

APBA Football Playing Demonstration

I wanted to share how I play the game and demonstrate a few of the innovations that I employ to make the game even more enjoyable.  I would like to apologize because I forgot to identify who sacked Jack Kemp during the video clip (i.e., Willie Jones and Pat Holmes shared the sack).
