The Sky is Falling in Big D
In one of the worst defeats at home in franchise history, the Dallas Cowboys were obliterated by the Jacksonville Jaguars, 38-3, Sunday in front of over 64,000 fans at Texas Stadium.
The worst defeat at home in franchise history was a 44-0 trouncing at the hands of the ’85 Bears, but this was the worst in the Troy Aikman era. The Cowboys’ strength in this era has been their offensive line. Not anymore. The Cowboys rushed for 63 yards and Cowboy QBs were sacked 7 times. The Boys have now lost 3 in a row, and many are pointing at the leadership in Big D.
As for the Jaguars, they are getting hot. After starting the season 1-4, the Jaguars have won two in a row over the NFC East as they trounced the Eagles, 38-10, last week.
With Natrone Means down with an injury, RB James Stewart picked up the slack. He rushed 28 times for 102 yards and 3 TDs. Brunell was 16 of 27 for 277 yards with a TD. Jimmy Smith (an ex-Cowboy) torched his old team with 8 catches for 154 yards and a score. Keenan McCardell caught 6 passes for 99 yards.
The Jaguars will try to keep it rolling as they have a stiff test as they travel to take on the undefeated Steelers. The Cowboys will travel to Philadelphia next week.

Jaguars return to form
It took them six games, but the Jacksonville Jaguars finally looked like the team that went to the AFC Championship game a year ago. In front of 69,000 in Alltel Stadium, the Jaguars put up 38 points in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-10.
Don Davey got the Jaguars moving as he got the trifecta on Eagles’ QB Ty Detmer. Davey sacked him, stripped him and recovered Detmer’s fumble in the end zone for a TD! Davey’s awesome defensive play gave the Jaguars a 7-3 lead and the Jaguar offense took over from there.
QB Mark Brunell threw for 277 yards and 2 TDs. Jimmy Smith caught 7 of those passes for 142 yards and a 3-yd TD Pass. Brunell also scrambled in for a 4-yd TD run.
As for the Eagles, they couldn’t get anything going at all. They mustered up 177 total yards of offense. Detmer was eventually benched. Ricky Watters rushed for 68 yards and caught five passes for 33 yards.
The Jaguars will hope to keep this rolling as they travel to Big D to take on the Cowboys, while the Eagles hope to get their season back on track as they host the winless Arizona Cardinals.
