The Colts erupt on Monday Night
Through 6 games of the 1997 season, the Indianapolis Colts scored a grand total of 45 points on the season, which is an average of 7.5 points per game. On Monday Night Football in front of over 61,000 fans in the RCA Dome, the Colts exploded for 39 points in their, 39-13, blowout of the Buffalo Bills.
In fact, the Colts averaged 275 total yards per game coming into the Monday Night clash. When all was said and done, the Colts racked up 387 total yards including an efficient night from Jim Harbaugh (who left in the 2nd with an injury) and Paul Justin. They combined for 244 yards passing and 3 TDs. They also rushed for 146 yards as Marshall Faulk had 114 yards on the ground.
Cary Blanchard had a career night. He kicked six field goals in the victory. His longest was a 51-yarder. He had 21 points in the game.
As for the Bills, they turned the ball over, which fueled the Colts offense. Todd Collins threw 3 picks and the Bills put the ball on the carpet three times. They only mustered 266 yards of offense in the game.
The Colts (2-5) will try to keep things going with backup QB Paul Justin next Sunday in San Diego, while the Bills (2-5) try to pick themselves up as they host the Broncos.

Steelers blow out the Colts in Prime Time
The Pittsburgh Steelers stayed undefeated on the season, 6-0, with a shellacking of the Indianapolis Colts, 37-7, Sunday Night at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Steelers offense scored on 10 of their 12 offensive possessions in the game and racked up 437 total offensive yards. They nearly had a shutout, but the Colts scored with 30 seconds remaining to erase the shutout.
Jerome Bettis overpowered the Colts with 158 yards rushing and 2 TDs on 29 carries. Kordell Stewart threw a TD pass and then left the game with a concussion in the second quarter. Mike Tomczak replaced him and threw for 149 yards and a TD.
The Steeler defense dominated the Colts and held them to 180 yards total offense until the final drive that included a 58-yard pass from Jim Harbaugh to Marshall Faulk. The Steelers sacked Harbaugh four times.
The Steelers will hope to stay undefeated as they travel to the red-hot Bengals, while the Colts, 1-5, face the Bills at home on Monday Night Football.
